SpeakLoop
Effective and last updated: July 10, 2026
SpeakLoop (the “App”) helps people practice spoken English with scenario-based lessons, voice recordings, and a practice queue for phrases that are not yet mastered. This policy explains how the App handles learning progress, recordings, and speech-recognition data.
No Account Required
The App currently has no account, sign-in, or cloud-sync feature. Core learning features do not require your name, phone number, or email address.
Data Stored on Your Device
- Lesson progress, review state, learning streaks, and speaking time
- Preferences such as the recording-retention setting
- Practice recordings that you choose to create
This information is stored on your device and is not uploaded to a SpeakLoop-operated server. SpeakLoop currently has no user-data backend and includes no advertising, behavioral analytics, or cross-app tracking SDK.
Microphone and Recordings
The App accesses the microphone only after you start a practice recording and grant iOS microphone permission. Recordings support immediate playback, practice comparison, and speech feedback.
You can turn off “Save My Recordings” in Settings. The current recording remains available during the exercise, while older temporary recordings are cleared before the next recording starts. Uninstalling the App removes recordings and learning data stored in its sandbox.
Apple Speech Recognition
When you request speech feedback and grant speech-recognition permission, the App uses Apple’s Speech framework to transcribe a recording. Depending on device, system, and language availability, recognition may happen on-device or may be processed by Apple’s speech-recognition service. That processing is subject to Apple’s privacy policy.
The transcript is used only to calculate phrase coverage and show coaching for the current exercise. SpeakLoop does not upload transcripts to its own server or use them for advertising or profiling.
Sharing and Tracking
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not use data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- Except for processing necessary when you choose Apple speech recognition, we do not transmit recordings or learning records to third parties.
Your Choices and Deletion
You may disable microphone or speech-recognition permission in iOS Settings at any time. Learning content that does not depend on those permissions remains available. You may disable recording retention, and you may delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the App.
Children's Privacy
The App is not specifically directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and its revision date.
